Lida Wood Landreth, 94, of Chattanooga, left February 25, 2025 to spend eternity with Jesus.
Lida grew up in Columbia, Alabama. She graduated from the University of Montevallo in Alabama with a Bachelor of Arts degree but became a homemaker after marriage. Lida was a longtime member of Red Bank Presbyterian Church.
She left peacefully and comfortably after modeling Christ for us for 94 years. Lida was a servant to many. It gave her joy to help others and that was her legacy for us. She would say "show someone you love them instead of just saying you love them." God gave her to the world for a little while to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Her life of putting others before herself has certainly been clear to us and many others.
Lida was known as a selfless, kind helper and mentor to those in her life. She loved the outdoors, including activities like hiking and gardening. She volunteered in many ways including the Boy Scouts of America for which she received the Silver Beaver award. She was skilled in so many ways that she became known as being able to fix anything.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth C. Landreth. She is survived by her sons, Dan (Suzanne) Landreth of Lavonia, GA and Jack (Laura) Landreth of Huntsville, AL; daughter, Janie (Gary) Bible of Maryville, TN; six grandchildren; and a sister, Carol Murphy.
A private family memorial service will be held graveside at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Red Bank Presbyterian Church or to the church of your choice. And help us pass on her legacy of kindness and service.
