Liesel Hodecker

Liesel was born April 16, 1949 to Margarete and Donald LaRoche in Adams, Massachusetts. Her mother referred to her as a "little rose bud" when she was born. She excelled in her school years and graduated with a Bachelor in Psychology from Emmanuel College. She diligently worked as a medical research assistant at Harvard. Liesel then became a special education teacher in Winthrop, Mass. She reunited with Robert Hodecker during their 15-year high school reunion and were married in 1984. She pursued a teaching opportunity in Meeteetse, Wyoming then continued her career in Cody, Wyoming, teaching at Eastside and Livingston Elementary until retiring in 2011. Some of Liesel's joys in life were visiting 37 of the US national parks, camping at spot 9 in Eagle Creek Campground up the North Fork, and tending to her beautiful garden. She was famous for her homemade jelly and applesauce, which was created by handpicked apples from her own backyard. Liesel carried great pride in her family. She was a dedicated member and deacon of the Presbyterian church.

She is survived by her husband Robert Hodecker and their children; son Grant Hodecker, grandchildren Ashelie, Clayton and Garrett, daughter Holly Cain, grandchildren Kalysta, Joe Jr, Eli; daughter Michelle Beutler, husband Todd, grandson Nikola; and son Matthew Hodecker, wife Aspen, grandchildren Dominic, Jamison

Liesel passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family. Liesel wanted to be celebrated with joy by her many friends and family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at The First Presbyterian Church at 2025 23rd St. Cody Wy. On Friday, March 13, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
