Lila Ablin

Lila Ablin, 84, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at home. She was born on April 18, 1940, in Walpole Island, Ontario, Canada, daughter of the late Clifford and Phyllis (Fisher) Sahguj. Lila attended Shingwauk Residential School as a child. Moved to Detroit where she received a nursing degree in 1969. She worked as a nurse in metro Detroit area for several years before expanding her education, receiving an associate degree in art from Ferris College in 1979 and an associate degree in teaching from Central Michigan University in 1985. She eventually moved to Isabella County in 1989, making a residence at Lake Isabella. Lila enjoyed trips to the casino, taking nature hikes, and gardening. She was an avid sports fan with a passion for NASCAR and Tigers baseball. Lila is survived by her children, Ricardo Ablin of Ontario, Canada, Juan (Cheryl) Ablin of Stanwood, Janice (Dan) Paige of Holland, Jeff Ablin of Mt. Pleasant, and Lisa (Jason) Johnson of Mt. Pleasant; 18 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and siblings, Anna Antone, Cynthis Gordon, and Fred Sahguj. She was preceded in death by both parents; daughters, Jennifer Masterson, and Honi Pelcher; infant twin siblings; twin sister, Priscilla Stevens; and brother, Glen Sahguj.
