Mrs. Lillian E. Barbati, 83, of Ellwood City passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2017 in the Heritage Valley Medical Center.
Mrs. Barbati was born on June 22, 1933 in Ellwood City to the late John A. and Ricka Sue DeThomas Mathas. Lil graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1951, and from the St. Francis School of Nursing in New Castle in 1954. She also attended Slippery Rock University and Youngstown State University. She had worked at the Ellwood City Hospital, the Visiting Nurses of Lawrence County, and at Lincoln High School as the school nurse. Lil also worked at Ricka's which was her mothers restaurant. She is a member of the Holy Redeemer Christian Mothers and the Sons of Columbus. Lil enjoyed cooking, reading, crocheting, and most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Ricka (Dr. Rick) Nelson of Aurora, OH, her sons, Dr. Al (Kathy) Barbati of McMurray, Pa and Joseph (Angelica) Barbati of Lake Worth, FL, her grandchildren, Jillian Barbati, Alexa Barbati, Joseph Barbati, Brock Nelson, Marina Nelson, Paige Nelson, Cameron Barbati, and Mia Barbati. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Michelle Mathas and her brother-in-law, Carmen Marcello.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joseph Barbati in 1970, her sister, Mary Jane Marcello, and her brother, John A. Mathas II.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 2-4 and 6-9 pm in the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, Inc. and Cremation Services.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am in the Holy Redeemer Church. Interment will follow at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Those attending the funeral mass are asked to meet at the funeral home on Tuesday by 10:20 am. Members of the Holy Redeemer Christian Mothers are asked to meet at the church on Tuesday by 10:50 am to form honor guard.
Memorial contributions in Mrs. Barbati's name may be made to the Holy Redeemer Social Services.
