Lillian M. Bathon of Nashville, IL departed this life at the Friendship Manor Healthcare Center in Nashville on Monday, September 30, 2024, at 3:07 A.M. She had attained the age of 94 years, 6 months and 7 days.
Lillian was born on March 23, 1930, in Oakdale, IL, the daughter of Richard and Lillie (nee Schaeffer) Porter. She was united in marriage to Arnold J. Bathon on May 14, 1955, in Todds Mill, IL and he preceded her in death on April 24, 2014.
Lillian held many jobs in her lifetime including working at the Egg Plant, drove a bus for the Nashville School District and head cook at the DuBois Center and St. Ann School. She also helped prepare and deliver meals for Meals on Wheels. She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Nashville, where she was active with the Altar Sodality and helped do the housekeeping in the rectory. Lillian had a passion for cooking and baking. She took great pride in preparing and serving countless meals for numerous occasions, especially funeral dinners. Lillian will be fondly remembered by many for her dedication in the kitchen and her homemade rolls, especially for the St. Ann Catholic School students.
Left to mourn her passing is her four children, Matthew Bathon and wife Donna of Todds Mill, IL, Susan Epplin and husband David of Cutler, IL, April Barsos and husband Dennis of Nashville and Valerie Opp and husband David of Pinckneyville, IL; sixteen grandchildren, Justin (Jennifer) Bathon, Crystal (Tony) Aandahl, Paul (Jessica) Bathon, Amanda (Ryan) Pytlinski and Gloria (Jeremiah) Przygoda, Pamela (Dan) Jaycox, C.J. (Shannon) Epplin, Angela (Neal) Martin, Adam (Brittany) Epplin, Evelyn (Matt) Sweeney, Alicia Helbig, Alex (Charissa) Barsos and Alaine Barsos, Emma (Josh) Lowe, Andrew (Taylor) Opp and Jenna Opp; thirty-one great grandchildren; sister, Eileen Sronce of Normal, IL; two sisters-in-law, Jean Porter and Phyllis Porter; Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson, Philip Bathon; two sisters, Elsie (Raymond) Campbell and Annabelle (Willard) Williams; four brothers, Athel (Selma) Porter, Lester (Doris) Porter, Hiram Porter and Allen Porter; and brother-in-law, Loren Sronce.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Ann Catholic Church in Nashville, IL on Monday, October 7, 2024, at 9 A.M. with Fr. Benny George and Fr. Andy Knopik officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Cemetery in Todds Mill, IL.
Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Nashville, IL on Sunday, October 6, 2024, from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. on Monday from 8 A.M. until 8:30 A.M.
Should friends desire, mass offerings or memorials can be made to the St. Ann Catholic Church or St. Bruno Catholic School and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
