Lillian Renick Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Snyder Funeral Homes, Denzer Chapel on Oct. 28, 2025.
Lillian "Marlene" Renick, age 73, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2025 at Marion General Hospital.
On October 21, 1952 Marlene was born in Marion, Ohio. The daughter of the late Ronald Edwin Abrams and Rosella Joanne (Apthorp) Basinger. Marlene received her education from Marion Harding High School and graduated with the class of 1971. On January 22, 1982 Marlene married her soulmate, Stephen Thurston Renick in Forestivlle, Maryland. The loving couple shared 43 marvelous years together.
For over 12 years, Marlene shared her passion for Tai Chi with countless students throughout Central Ohio. Her gentle guidance and patient teaching helped many discover balance, mindfulness, and peace-qualities she embodied in her own life. Marlene believed deeply in the power of movement and meditation to heal both body and spirit, and she touched many lives through her dedication to the art of Tai Chi.
Equally devoted to service, Marlene spent more than a decade volunteering at the Marion Senior Center. Her compassion for others, especially the elderly, shone brightly in all she did. Whether she was leading an activity, lending a listening ear, or simply offering a warm smile, Marlene made everyone feel valued and cared for.
Those who knew Marlene will remember her for her generous heart, her quiet wisdom, and her unwavering commitment to helping others live well and fully. She leaves behind a community that is better for her presence and forever grateful for her gifts of time, love, and teaching.
Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband, Stephen T. Renick; daughter, Sara Nicolas; grandson, James Nicolas; brothers: Ron Abrams and Don Basinger; sisters: Lori Strobel and Frances Pickunas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Marlene was preceded in death by her siblings: Allen Abrams, Gerry Basinger, and Cindy Basinger.
Services are being observed privately by the family.
