With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Lillian D. Sonnier, lovingly known as Lala, who left us on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the age of 70. She passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her devoted family, embodying the warmth and love she shared throughout her life.
Lillian was born on March 6, 1954, to Woodrow and Azalee Breaux Deason. She was truly one of a kind, known for her generous spirit and her willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her joy was found in gatherings with friends and family, often accompanied by her beloved "Little Debbie" snacks, which were ever-present during her cheerful visits.
Her memories will forever be cherished in the hearts of her loved ones. Lala leaves behind her cherished sisters-in-law, Sandy Rider (Russell “Potic”) and Nanette Sonnier all of Basile, along with nephews and nieces who adored her: Woodrow “Woody” B. Deason III (Amanda) of Tulsa, OK and their little ones Woodrow B. Deason IV, Dylan Tyler Deason and Ashley Lynn Deason, niece, Ashley Delafosse (Caleb), of Lafayette and nephew, Derrick Deason (Cissy) of Basile. They will hold her memory dear, comforted by the love they shared.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael O. Sonnier; her parents, Woodrow B. and Azalee B. Deason; and her brothers, Woodrow B. Deason, Jr., William M. Deason, and Leon R. Deason. The family will also remember her nephew, Steven Tyler Deason, who left us too soon.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a Funeral Service that will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at Ardoin’s Funeral Home Chapel in Basile, with Father Keenan Brown officiating. We welcome you to pay your respects during the visitation, which will take place from 7:00 AM until the service begins. A Rosary will be prayed at 11:30 PM, led by The Catholic Daughters.
As we remember Lillian, let us celebrate a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments. She touched so many lives, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the joy of knowing her.
