Lillie Lanell (Gilmore) Butler was born on February 6, 1943, to Hattie Nell Brooks Daniels in Temple, Texas. She attended Dunbar High School and joined Bethel Independent Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir. Lillie dedicated 23 years of her life working as a nurse's aide at Scott and White Memorial Hospital, and in food service at the Veterans Affairs Hospital. She Lillie had a passion for crocheting, sewing, and cooking. She was known for her exceptional cooking.
Lillie was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry Dixon, Sr., and Hattie Nell Brooks Daniels; daughter, Janice Wilson; son, Michael Hopson; brother, Jerry Dixon; and grandmother, Laura Miller.
Survivors are two sons, Jackie Hopson (Shirley) and James Hopson, both of Temple; one daughter, Rose Maceyra of Temple; brothers, Willie "Joe Boy" Gilmore and Donnis Dixon (Cinty), both of Temple, Ervin Dixon of Houston, Gerald Dixon and Douglas Dixon (Pam), both of McGregor, and Lonnie Dixon (Barbara) and Rickey Dixon, both of Waco; sisters, Helen Hamilton, Jimmie Smith, Joy Hurt (Henry), and Doris Bower, all of Temple, Lola Tommy of Fort Worth, and Connie Johnson (Robert) and Jackie Sanderfer (Joe) of Waco; 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
