Lillie B. Coffer was born on October 3, 1948, in Lexington, Mississippi, to the late S.D. Coffer and Marie (Peterson) Coffer. From an early age, she carried a warm spirit, a generous heart, and the quiet determination that defined her throughout her life.

As a teenager, she enjoyed learning to better her education and was known for (Saying Her Alphabets Backwards). She was honored to receive her high school diploma at 16. Lillie met the love of her life, Roosevelt Sampson Jr. Their bond grew into a devoted marriage on September 26, 1966, in Detroit, Michigan. From this union they built a beautiful family together. They became the proud parents of Kevin, Priscilla, Kimberlyn, and Prysanthum, all of Detroit, MI. Lillie’s children were her greatest joy! Lillie poured her heart into nurturing, guiding, and supporting them.

Lillie was the Usher President at Bethlehem Temple, also where she was baptized by her son, Elder Kevin Sampson Sr.

In her spare time, Lillie’s hobbies were playing cards, solitaire, and crossword puzzles. Lillies retired from Ford Motor Company with 27.5 years of service.

On December 3, 2025, God opened the doors of Heaven and welcomed Lillie to her new home, at the age of 77years and 2 months. She left behind a legacy of strength, compassion, and unwavering faith.

Lillie passed away peacefully at her home. She kept the faith as outlined in 2 Timothy 4:6-8. She was proceeded in death by her parents: S.D. Coffer and Marie Coffer; son: Elder Kevin Sampson Sr. of Livonia, MI; brother: Jerry Coffer Sr. of Detroit, MI; sister: Juraline Wilson, of Waterloo, IA.

Lillie leaves to cherish her memories: five brothers: S.D. Coffer, L.D. Coffer of Atlanta, GA, and Theodore Coffer, George Coffer, and Robert Coffer of Waterloo, IA; two sisters: Clara Ross, of Waterloo, IA and Lillie Mae Harris of Memphis, TN; ex-husband: Roosevelt Sampson Jr.; three daughters: Priscilla Daniels, Kimberlyn Cannon (Timothy Campbell Sr.), and Prysanthum Armstrong; daughter in-law, Michelle Sampson. Eleven grandchildren: Kristen (Brooker T. III) Hayes, Jesse Belton III, Kevin (Karlisha) Sampson, Jr., Brianna (Calvin) Leonard, Chanelle (Darnell) Smith, Aaron Sampson, K’Ja Talley, Kevin Talley, Jr., K’La Talley, Carmella Armstrong, and Christopher Armstrong. A host of nieces and nephews, great-grand children, loved ones, and friends. Two long life friends: Judie Parkman and Georgia Smith, both of Farmington, Michigan. A special first cousin, Lucille Markham, of Gary, IN.
