Lillie Mae Nelson Miles, 97, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully at National Healthcare Center in Greenwood, SC on Monday, August 11.
Born June 7, 1928, in Kossuth, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Clester and Rose Ethel Nelson. Prior to her moving to Greenwood with her husband, Mrs. Miles lived in Jonesboro, Georgia where she raised her family and served her Lord by teaching youth and adult Sunday School classes. After moving to Greenwood, she continued to share her Christian faith with those around her.
She is survived by her daughter, Rosa (Don) Ryerson of Greenwood; her son, Rev. Tom (Bonny) Miles of Nicholson, GA; three grandchildren, Kara (Jason) Boling, Casey (Matt) Davis, and Josh (Jennie) Ryerson; and seven great grandchildren, who brought her great joy. She is also survived by her sister, Ilene Yager of Corinth, MS.
In addition to her husband of 70 years, Marvin L. Miles, she was predeceased by two sisters, Dean Crum and Wilma Hodge; and one brother, Hugh Nelson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with viewing from 10:00-10:45.
Burial will follow at Oakbrook Memorial Park.
Her grandson and great grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
