Lillie Mae Saylor, 87, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2026.
She was born on July 30, 1938, in
Pineville, Kentucky, to William Thomas Craft and Virginia Lee Craft, both of Pineville. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Thomas Craft of Huntington, West Virginia; her beloved husband, James Charles Saylor, Jr.; her daughter-in-law, Laura Saylor; and her grandparents, Garland and Victoria Craft and Henry and Lillie Mae Lee, all of Pineville.
She is survived by her sister, Vickie Green of San Antonio, Florida.
Lillie grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, and attended St. Rita's School for the Deaf in Cincinnati, Ohio. On December 22, 1956, she married the love of her life, James Charles Saylor, Jr., and they shared 64 devoted years of marriage until his passing on July 26, 2021.
Together they were blessed with five children:
James "Jimmy" Saylor of Louisville, Kentucky;
Henry Joseph "Joe" Saylor of Louisville, Kentucky;
Marvin Thomas "Tommy" Saylor (Shawn) of Bedrock, Kentucky;
Randy Alan Saylor (Rhonda) of
Lancaster, Kentucky; and
Bethie Mae Saylor of Louisville, Kentucky.
She was a proud grandmother to 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy.
Lillie lived most of her life in Louisville before moving in 2019 to Lancaster to live with her son, Randy, for several years. She was a devoted Catholic who deeply loved her role as a wife, mother, and Mamaw. Lillie cherished being around people. She loved dancing, being playful and silly, and making jokes - especially when she found them funny herself. She had a beautiful soul and a gentle, loving spirit. She was always ready to comfort others and share kindness.
In her later years, she especially enjoyed spending time with family and looking at photos of her great-grandchildren, delighting in watching them grow.
She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew and loved her.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Cambridge Nursing Home, Bluegrass Navigators Hospice, and the wonderful ASL interpreters from Sign Language Network of Kentucky for their compassionate care and support of Lillie and her family over the years.
