Lily Michele Malave-Adams, known affectionately as Lula, was a beacon of joy and courage who left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her. Born on October 16, 2002, in the vibrant city of Ponce, Puerto Rico, Lily's zest for life and unwavering spirit were evident from the start. Her journey on this earth came to a peaceful close on August 11, 2025, in
Bradenton, Florida, where she was surrounded by the love and warmth of her family.
Despite the challenge of cancer that she faced with remarkable bravery, Lily's legacy is not defined by her struggle but by the love, laughter, and light she brought into the world. She was the beloved daughter of Javier Malave and Rosa Adams, cherished by her sisters Meadow and Francheska, and adored by her nieces and nephews Isabella, Yadiel, Ezeriah, Jacari, Cataleahanna, and Ezequiel. Her grandparents Michele and Donald Burgess, and Rafael Malave, and her predeceased Grandmother Iris Dejesus, along with her aunts, uncles, Betzaida (Wille), Eliseo (Ana Delia) Marisol (Felix), Yolanda (Virgilio), Erika (Wilder), Rafael (Colene), Yahaira, David, Ervin (Renae), Patrick (Tiffany), Nikki (Queda), and her predeceased U. Jason (Lisa) as well as so many cousins, who held a special place in her heart. Lily's vast network of family extended across New York, Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona, Florida, and back to her homeland of Puerto Rico, touching countless lives along the way.
Lily's valiant battle with cancer never dimmed her academic aspirations. She earned her high school diploma, a testament to her resilience and determination. Her faith played a pivotal role in her life, and as a devout Christian, she leaned on her beliefs for strength and comfort.
Lily's passions were as vibrant and varied as her personality. She reveled in the worlds of Chinese dramas and K-pop, expressing her creativity through drawing and singing. Her love for her niece and nephews was unparalleled, and the time she spent with them was filled with joy and laughter. Lily's bright smile, kind heart, and her innate desire to see happiness flourish around her will forever be etched in the memories of those she loved.
Those who knew Lily would describe her as loving, kind, and undeniably funny-a person who could light up a room and ease the heaviest of hearts with her humor. Her life was a living embodiment of the inspiring words of Helen Keller: "Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it." Lily not only overcame adversity but did so with grace and cheerfulness that inspired everyone she met.
Today, we celebrate Lily Michele Malave-Adams, not with a sense of loss but with an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for the time we were privileged to share with her. Her story is one of love, laughter, and the unyielding power of the human spirit-a narrative that will continue to motivate and uplift us all. Lily's journey on this earth was a testament to the beauty of life, the strength found in family, and the joy that can be discovered, even in the most challenging of circumstances. Her legacy will live on, not just in our memories, but in the way we choose to face our own trials with the same courage and positivity that she embodied every day of her precious life.
