Linda Aspinall
1950-2025
SOUTH PORTLAND--Linda Aspinall,74, born June 18, 1950, passed away on April 5, 2025, in Portland, Maine. She grew up in Woburn, Massachusetts and graduated from New England Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in Boston. Her passing leaves a quiet space in the hearts of those who knew her, but should encourage a sense of joy knowing she is now in her heavenly home celebrating in the presence of Jesus Christ her Lord and Savior.
Linda's life was one of caring and giving. She was an excellent homemaker. She actually won a Betty Crocker "Homemaker of Tomorrow" award in high school. As well as cooking, her skills as a seamstress allowed her to make clothes for herself as well as many things for her daughter, Amy. She loved her dogs. Each dog lived long and healthy lives. None of the dogs ever had to have their toenails clipped because she walked them so much the nails would get worn off on the pavement. She also enjoyed gardening and was a member of a local book club.
Her forty years of nursing showed her love of mankind, whether it was on the floors, in the pain clinic or in ASU (day surgery) As a professional she served in MESPAN. (Maine Society of Peri Anesthesia Nurses) Linda's demonstration of her faith was evident also as she served in the church in the choir and always helping with hospitality. Most people slow down in retirement, but Linda chose to continue to serve God by volunteering at Florida Baptist Children's Home in Jacksonville Florida for many winters. Her next roll was being a kind loving person at Avion Palms enjoying life with many friends for winters in Bowling Green, Florida. Her summers involved time with many friends at camp on Raymond Pond at Lloyd's family cottage. While there she attended Webbs Mills Free Baptist Church. When in South Portland she attended Hope Community Church (formerly First Baptist)
Linda's last few months were spent at the Barron Center in Portland, Maine. It was challenging. The Activity staff, CNA's, O.T., Speech Therapist and a couple of the nurses attended to her needs in a professional and caring manner. Linda and Lloyd continued their morning devotional while there and shared the love of God with others.
Linda was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Edna Dodge. She is survived by many loving relatives including: her faithful and caring husband, Lloyd, daughter Amy (Brian) Pelkey and grandson Tyson, brothers Douglas (Janice) Dodge, and Larry (Mary) Dodge, sister Nancy (Rick) Fitzgerald, and Aunt Marion. Also remembered are stepson Aaron (Erin) and his children Hera and Otto, and stepdaughter Christina and her children Leah and Jack who helped considerably in Linda's care in the last years of her life. There are so many wonderful nieces, nephews, their spouses and children it would take pages to list them all.
On April 26 at 10:00 a.m. a memorial service and reception will be held in
South Portland, Maine, at Hope Community Church, 879 Sawyer Street, honoring her life. A burial service will follow the reception at Highland Cemetery in Limerick, Maine for anyone wishing to make the journey.
