Linda Faye Austin passed away peacefully at her home in Ball Ground, GA, on August 30, 2025. She was surrounded by family as she took her heavenly flight.

Linda was born on January 4, 1948, in Dalton, GA. She was the eldest of 9 children born to Jessie R and Jessie Mae Austin.

During her life, she worked as a secretary at Ball Ground Elementary school. Then as a secretary at Doxol Gas in Canton, GA. She then switched careers and worked as a seamstress at both Vanity Fair and H.D. Lee manufacturing plants in Jasper, GA. Her last job was at Pro Group, Jasper, where she ran an embroidery machine.

While living a blessed life she was not without tragedies. In 1999, she suffered a brain aneurysm which claimed her eyesight.

Though blind, she did not allow that to limit her life. Linda enjoyed traveling, attending country music festivals and concerts, time with family and friends and attending church. And she loved to eat and commune with the employees at her favorite restaurant, Tecali Grille. Prior to her blindness she loved to knit, crochet and read.

Linda was a member of Sharp Mountain Baptist Church in Ball Ground where she was baptized in 2013.

Above all, Linda will be remembered as a cherished "matriarch" to her siblings. Her loving nature, sense of humor, and "sharp as a tack" mind are how we best describe her. Her smile and kind words will surely be missed. However, our individual memories of her will warm our hearts and last a lifetime.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie R and Jessie Mae Austin; siblings Brian Austin and James Austin and other dear family members.

Linda is survived by her siblings, Larry Austin (Wanda), Jackie Austin (Kathryn), Mary Ann Austin, David Austin (Penny), Carolyn Grogan and Jeff Austin; beloved nieces and nephews, Ashley Steele, Patty A. Darby, Karen Austin, Stephen Austin, Amy Gay, Latrice Johnson, Rondall Byrd, Denise Austin Gonzalez, Jessica Weaver, Hannah Hall, Jonathon Harris and Jeffery Austin; honorary grandchild, Alex Steele; cherished friends, Michelle and Frank Pritchett, Logan Austin and Tecali Grille family; as well as a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 4, 2025 at Sharp Mountain Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip Burt, Rev. Chris Boling and Rev. Shannon Kelley officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Sosebee Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 3rd from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, September 4th from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Linda will lie-in-state on Thursday at the church from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Serving as pallbearers will be Frankie Pritchett, Zach Murphy, Dennis Hughes, Chad Duncan, Levi Lathem and Alex Viveros.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Sharp Mountain Baptist Church PO Box 41 Ball Ground, GA 30107.
