Linda Reynolds Burden 74, widow of Joseph Allison Burden, departed this life on June 26, 2024 at Southside Community Hospital. She was born to the late Mildred Evens Reynolds and Norvell John Reynolds of Charlotte Court House, VA on March 8, 1950. She graduated from Randolph Henry High School in 1968 and received a BA from Longwood College in 1972. She earned her master’s degree from Longwood College in 1975.

Linda’s career in education began as a teacher at Prince Edward County High School for 13 years. During this time she received the Best Teacher Award. Linda went on to become a guidance counselor at Amelia Middle School and finally retired as a guidance counselor at Prince Edward Middle School. During summers she was a tour guide for E.F. Educational tours, leading groups of educators and students in countries abroad. She was the ultimate planner of events and hosted many gatherings at her home in Farmville. Linda was a strong willed, private, generous, conservative and loyal person. She was a tenacious loving mother. She touched many lives as a school teacher. Linda leaves to cherish her memories her son Joseph Michael Burden (Nellie) of Oregon, a brother Jack Wayne Reynolds (Kary) of Charlotte Court House, VA and two sisters; Betty Reynolds Scruggs of Ashland and Barbara Reynolds Sheffield of Green Bay. She is survived by two nephews, one niece and a host of cousins, great nephews and great nieces, a step daughter Allison Burden Travis (Tim) of Oklahoma.

As an avid lover of animals since childhood, she also leaves behind her beloved feline and canine babies.

A visitation will be held on Friday, June 28, 2024 from 6:00PM – 7:30PM with a memorial service starting at 7:30. A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 11:00AM in Evergreen Cemetery, Charlotte Court House.

Memorial contributions may be made to Southside SPCA or St. Jude’s’s Children’s Hospital.
