WELLSVILLE – Linda K. (McCoy) Daugherty, 71, entered into rest and into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 7:55 a.m. on Monday, November 11, 2024 at UPMC Memorial. She was the loving wife of Norman E. Daugherty, Jr. The couple celebrated 45 years of marriage on July 28, 2024.
Born September 26, 1953 in Peoria, IL, Linda was a daughter of the late Charles and Roberta (White) McCoy.
She graduated from Central York High School in 1971 and later earned a Bachelor's of Science and Education Degree from York College of Pennsylvania. Linda worked as a nursery school teacher at Red Land Valley Brethren in Christ Church in Lewisberry. She later drove school van for area school districts. She had also worked for Visiting Angels.
Linda was a member of St. Paul's Red Run Church in East Berlin where she was very active with the children's ministry, Vacation Bible School and Bible Adventure with Dover Area Schools. She was a nature lover and had a special, infectious laugh. She was an incredibly devoted "Grammie". She cherished spending time with her grandchildren and supporting them in all their endeavors. Linda had a heart to serve and loved unconditionally. She lived for Jesus Christ and shared God's message with all who met her.
In addition to her husband, Linda is survived by two sons, Nicolus C. Daugherty and wife, Jennifer of Glenville and Christian E. Daugherty and wife, Alyssa of Dover; five grandchildren, Aiden, Alivia, Colton, Kylee and Austin; two sisters, Suzanne Fay of Hellam and Marcia Painter of Red Lion; and a brother, Paul McCoy of Hanover.
Following cremation, relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the service to celebrate Linda's life at St. Paul's Red Run Church, 6623 Davidsburg Rd., East Berlin, PA on Saturday, November 23rd, 2024. Visitation will start at 10:00 AM with a service following at 11:00 AM. The church welcomes family and friends to a luncheon following the service. Officiating will be her pastor, Zach Stec. Arrangements have been entrusted to Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc. in Dover.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Red Run Church, 6623 Davidsburg Rd., East Berlin, PA 17316.
