LINDA DOWDY
Medon, TN: Linda Elizabeth Holley Dowdy age 78, passed away July 12, 2024. She was born July 12, 1946 in Jackson, daughter of the late Earl Holley and Ruth Edith Nobles Morris. She grew up in Jacks Creek and was a graduate of Chester County High School. She took courses at West Tennessee Business College and Tennessee College of Applied Technology in Jackson.
She married Jerry Dowdy on August 22, 1964 and they made their home in Deanburg.
Her career consisted of several positions of secretarial office management and personnel management over the years. She loved being a homemaker working on the farm, gardening, sewing, cooking, and taking care of her kids and grandkids. She also enjoyed spending her time fishing with her husband and walking in her community with her kids and grandkids over the years. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
She had a wonderful sense of humor, a great personality, and she loved dancing and singing. She could also do just about anything she put her mind to.
She was a member of the Sabbath-keeping United Church of God in Jackson.
Mrs. Dowdy is survived by her husband, Jerry Wayne Dowdy; three daughters: Shelly Barclay (Bill) of Crump, Sonya King (Jeff) of Beech Bluff, and Maria Enfinger of Medon; six grandchildren: Ashleigh Jones, Hunter Jones, Alyssa King, Katie King, Allyson Enfinger, and Elaine Enfinger; four great grandchildren; brother John Morris of Jacks Creek, sister Vicky Morris of Selmer; sisters Mary Jo Graves of Tyrone, GA and Marsha Holley of Imlay, MI.
She was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter Erin Enfinger, two sisters Julia McCoy and Judy Sweatt, and nephew Adam Sweatt.
Services will be: Visitation Sunday, July 21st from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM and Funeral 12:00 PM Sunday. Interment immediately following at Old Enon Cemetery in Middleton, Tn.
