Linda Beatrice Borglum Fry, 95, took her final journey from Earth on November 21, 2025 at the Greens at Cannondale, Wilton, CT.
Born February 7, 1930 in New York City, and raised in Silvermine/Wilton, CT, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Harriet (Murphy) Borglum and granddaughter of Silvermine Art Colony founder Solon and Emma Borglum. Linda graduated from Barnard College in 1952, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in English Literature. Following graduation, she enjoyed a spirited 6 month trip throughout Europe with her good friend Sabra Toulson Jaynes.
In June 1956, Linda married Naval Lieutenant William R. Fry, took up residence in New York City where she worked as an assistant editor for the Harper & Row Publishing Company and gave birth to her 2 sons.
Returning to Silvermine/Wilton in 1968, Linda was employed by Wayman Productions and eventually as an Office Assistant for Borglum & Meek, her late brother David Borglum's construction company. She also served as a board member of the Solon Borglum Foundation. Several years ago, Linda completed an oral history for the New Canaan Museum and Historical Society (NCMHS) and donated the remaining part of the original Addison Millar studio which is now part of the permanent Silvermine exhibit at the NCMHS.
Linda raised her two beloved sons, several cats, fed thousands of wild birds, one bear and lived a quiet life in Silvermine. She enjoyed playing piano, trips to Lake George, Maine, Boston, New Orleans, the Bahamas, multiple visits to the Metropolitan Opera and was, to the end of her life, a voracious reader. She will be remembered for her expansive ability to love and her 'wicked' sense of humor.
Linda is survived by her sons Steven Fry (Lynn), Jonathan Fry (Holly), her granddaughter Hailey Fry, her step-daughter Nina Fry-Kizler (David) as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
The family is deeply grateful for the wonderful staff of the Greens at Cannondale for the excellent care and compassion which enabled Linda to thrive in her final years. Her friends Ed Vollmer, Susan Gunn Bromley, Nancy Geary and the New Canaan Museum and Historical Society were also a source of inspiration and joy for her.
As Linda wished, there will be no public service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to PAWS of Norwalk.
