Linda Straughan Hammett

Linda Hammett, 75, went home to be with the Lord on July 19, 2025. She was born in December of 1949. Her parents were the late Charlie and Gertrude Straughan. Linda graduated from Goldsboro High School in June of 1968. Linda married in August of 1968, and her precious baby girl was born in December of 1969. Linda was always active, and in July of 1973, she had an accident that left her struggling to return to a normal life. Linda was a determined lady, and she refused to surrender to the circumstances, and she continued to live and adjust to her new normal. Her husband left her in January of 1974, and, Linda, never one to stay down, enrolled in Wayne Community College in April of 1974 and graduated, with an Associate's Degree in June of 1976. Linda moved to Raleigh and became an active part of the local HVAC industry, serving with the Cooper and Honeycutt Company. Linda became totally disabled when she was only 50 years old, yet that did not stop her from being the determined and dedicated lady that she was. Linda loved her family, her Robinwood family and her church family. She was a dear friend to many, and she will be missed.
She is survived by her daughter, Tammy Thomason, (Jack); Grandchildren: Heather Thompson, Jayme Keener (Allan), Casey Ebron (Jimmy), Johnathan Thomason (Morgan), Matthew Thomason; Great-grandchildren: Carson Thompson, Brayden Ebron, Kloie Ebron, Camryn Ebron, Hudson Keener.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Baptist Tabernacle Church, 1599 NC Hwy 231, Wendell, NC or to Kennedy Children's Home – Baptist Children's Homes of NC 2557 Cedar Dell Lane, Kinston, NC 28504
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Baptist Tabernacle Church on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 3:00 pm.
