A Mass of Christian Burial for Linda Kay Hammond, 78, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 11:00 A.M., Friday, December 30, 2022, with Fr. Mark Ghiloni as celebrant. Friends and family are invited to visit at church from 9:30-11 A.M, prior to the service. Inurnment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Linda, a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, died at SharonBrooke Assisted Living Center on Saturday, December 17, 2022. She was born in Zanesville, Ohio on March 15, 1944, to the late Walter and Pearl (Slater) Passwaters.
Linda earned her degree as a Registered Nurse from COTC and worked in the offices of Dr. Pattye Whisman and Dr. Thomas Mills for many years. She was a dedicated nurse who always offered a kind smile and sincere care.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who cherished the time spent with her family. She will be greatly missed by her children, Cynthia (Phil) Bowling, Michael (Wendy) Hammond, Jennifer (Jeff) Brabb, Paul Hammond (Stacey), John Ryan "J.R." (Toshia) Hammond, and Sarah (Brady) Kirby; 16 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Wade (Marcella) Hammond; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Michael P. Hammond; brothers, Paul (Janice) Passwaters and Harold (Geri) Passwaters; and sister, Leona Mae (Guy) Watton.
The family requests memorials in Linda's name be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
