Linda Marie Hoeck, 83, went home to be with Jesus! July 15, 2024 was her first step into paradise. She was born on October 6, 1940, in Wabash, she was the eldest child of Paul and Phoebe (Ross) Harner.
In her youth she attended St. Bernards through the 8th grade and graduated in the 1958 class of Wabash High School. She then attended the International Business School in Fort Wayne.
Scott and Linda were married in Wabash. They then traveled with the military to Europe and spent time exploring Germany and Italy. They settled in Washington for Scott to pursue his career at Boeing.
For 25 years the family were residents of Langley, on the south end of Whidbey Island, Linda was the bookkeeping support for several family-owned businesses including a large rabbit raising facility. Linda loved gardening and had a very large garden. She canned and dehydrated a great deal of produce. She supported her local community by being one of the founders of the Cooperative Preschool and for many years was a Camp Fire Troop Leader. She was a member of Aglow (a Christian Women's Fellowship) and attended/taught Bible studies.
In 1988 the family moved to Guam to start a chain of insurance businesses. Linda was the Office Manager for 3 offices and tested to obtain her property and casualty insurance licenses. They remained there for six years and explored Korea, Bali, Hong Kong, Hawaii, and Japan. She learned to Scuba dive and enjoyed seeing all kinds of colorful sea life.
Linda returned from her international travels to reside at Hill Lake. She attended Warsaw Community Church and worked at Baker Insurance Company in Wabash. It was her joy to establish an orchard and garden behind her home. The productive trees and overflowing garden supplied many families with the gift of good, fresh food. She exercised at the YMCA Silver Sneakers and often swam in the lake. She attended many Christian concerts, Bible studies and her high school group of the Class of 1958 lunches.
She is survived by four children, Lora (Ted) Stonebridge of Monroe, WA, Julie (Karl) Neuhold of New Carlisle, IN, Janice (Craig) Brown of Centennial, CO, and Bryan (Tracy) Hoeck of Lynwood, WA; eight grandchildren, Paul (Safaa) Stonebridge, Bret Stonebridge, Lucas Neuhold, Isaac (Alex) Neuhold, Andre Brown, Amber Neuhold, Lilianna Hoeck, and Ethan Hoeck; three great-grandchildren, Zachery Neuhold, Gabriel Stonebridge, and Evan Stonebridge, and siblings, Les (Roseanne) Harner of Oley, PA, John (Bridget) Harner of Silver Lake, IN, and Cathy (Randy) Duhamell of Lagro, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Burial will be in Falls Cemetery, Wabash. There will be a celebration of Linda's life at 5:30 pm, Thursday, September 5, 2024 in the Westminster Hall West Room at Grace College, Winona Lake, Indiana.
