Linda Ann Lakeman, 76, of Moorhead, MN, died Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at Farmstead Living in Moorhead.

Linda was born on May 25, 1947, in Fargo, ND, to Clarence and Frances (Krabbenhoft) Schlueter.  She was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hawley, MN and grew up on the family farm near Hawley, MN.   In 1965 she graduated from Hawley High School and began working for the federal government as a clerical assistant in the selective service system.

Linda was united in marriage to LeRoy Lakeman on September 27, 1969, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sabin, MN.  They were blessed with two children and four grandchildren.   Over the years, Linda enjoyed working as a clerical assistant for Polk County Group Homes in Moorhead, as parish secretary for Winchester-Gloria Dei Lutheran Churches, and in the deli department at Cash Wise Foods in Moorhead.

Linda was an active member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school, served as co-president and treasurer of the WELCA and as treasurer of the church council.  She also enjoyed participating in the quilting group, The Piecemakers. Most of all, Linda enjoyed spending time spoiling her beloved grandchildren.  She never missed an opportunity to capture memories of them by taking pictures.

Linda is survived by her loving husband, LeRoy, Moorhead; daughter, Brenda (Tim) Illg, Glyndon, MN and son, Ryan (Kelli) Lakeman, Plymouth, MN; grandchildren, Taylor, Austin, Shawn and Lauren; sister, Helen (Brad) Nelson, Grand Forks, ND; brother-in-law, Kenneth (Judy) Lakeman; sister-in-law, Vi Rheinhardt, and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Betty (Ronnie) Mikkelson; brother-in-law, Richard Lakeman and sister-in-law, Darlene Tratebas.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Hospice of the Red River Valley.

A funeral service will be held Monday, April 15, 2024, at 11:00 A.M., with visitation for one hour before the service, at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead.  Interment will take place at Hawley Cemetery.
