Elyria - Linda D. Laux (nee Giovannazzo), 70, passed away at home with her loving family by her side on Saturday, November 29, 2025.

Linda faced every challenge life gave her with remarkable strength, courage and grace. Born to Dominic and Audrey (nee Wilson) Giovannazzo on March 25, 1955, in Elyria, OH, where she was a lifelong resident. Linda was a beacon of empathy and support to her family and community. Maya Angelou once remarked, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." True to these words, Linda's kindness and caring nature will never be forgotten.

Linda was a graduate of Elyria Catholic High School, Class of 1973. Linda dedicated her life to the comfort and care of others. She began as a homemaker and mother, returning to school to obtain her Bachelor's Degree as a Registered Nurse at Akron University. She began working at Elyria Memorial Hospital where Linda was not just a nurse, she was a friend, a confidante, and a comforting presence to all in need. Her dedication to her profession was only surpassed by her love for her family which was her pride and joy. Linda was a compassionate and loving individual who has left an indelible mark on the hearts of those she knew.

She was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Church in Elyria and volunteered at church with Helping Hands and at St. Elizabeth Homeless Shelter in Lorain. She was an avid reader and had a knack for cleaning but nothing meant more to her than caring for others and spending time with family.

Linda is survived by her loving children, Stephanie (Mike Young) Laux, Michael Laux, and Julie (Greg) Hornbeek; siblings, John "Jack" Giovannazzo, Daniel (Roberta) Giovannazzo, Mary Jo (Terry) Tonderys, and David (Shawna) Giovannazzo; five grandchildren, Nicholas, Donavon, Lilyrose, Landen, and Brooks. Including many nieces, nephews, and loving family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dominic and Audrey Giovannazzo; and nephew, Theodore "Teddy" Giovannazzo.

The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, Ohio, 44052, on Thursday, December 4, 2025 from 3:00 - 7:00 PM. Closing prayers will be held at the funeral home on Friday, December 5 at 9:10 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Mary Church, 320 Middle Avenue, Elyria, Ohio, 44035 at 10:00 AM with Christian Burial following mass at St. Mary's Cemetery, Elyria, Ohio.
