Cecile M. Tomasek "Sis" (Fritz), age 89, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loving family on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.
She was a lifelong Elyria, Ohio resident and a graduate of Elyria Catholic High School (class of 1954). Cecile was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church for over 50 years. She loved to entertain and when younger she enjoyed summer camping with family at Clare Mar Lakes and Pheasant Run campgrounds. Coming from a very large family, she never missed a gathering of which there were many, from birthdays, holiday parties, graduations, family reunions (recent 70 th), cookouts and visits to siblings' homes to allow for cousin bonding.
Sis loved being a stay-at-home mother. Her focus was raising her children in a religious and loving family household. When her children moved out of the home, she continued her nurturing maternal side by providing day care services to several young families. She absolutely loved this period of her life treating the parents and children as extended family. She also loved and looked forward to spending summer vacations at Linwood Park cottages in Vermilion, Ohio, overlooking Lake Erie. In her earlier years at Linwood, she enjoyed and cherished her time spent with sisters Rose and Sylvia and their families. In later years, Sis was joined by daughter Raniece, son-in-law Brian, her son Randy, daughter-in-law Jessica and loving grandson Mitchell. These times were the highlight of her year, where she would plan for visits and the week-long closeness with family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Tomasek, Jr.; parents John and Mary Fritz; parents-in-law Joseph Tomasek, Sr., Edward and Helen Burrell; sisters Rita (Carl) Rink and Camille Fuehrer; sister-in-law Janice Tomasek; brothers-in-law Richard Herman, Larry Jordan, and William Tomasek.
She is survived by daughter Raniece (Brian) Thomas and grandson Brian, Jr., son Randolph (Jessica) Tomasek and grandson Mitchell, daughteir Richelle (James) Welburn and grandson Joshua, son Rory (Denise) Tomasek and grandchildren Simone and Tyler; sisters Frances Schuster, Sylvia Herman and Rosemary Jordan; brothers Eugene Fritz, Robert (Grace) Fritz, John (Carrie) Fritz; brothers-in-law George Fuehrer, Gerald Tomasek, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A Mass will be held Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 12 noon at St. Jude Catholic Church located at 590 Poplar Street, Elyria, Ohio with Father Jose Fifin officiating. A celebratory luncheon will follow immediately after the Mass, where family and friends are invited to greet, gather, share memories and continue celebrating Sis' beautiful life together. Details will be provided during service.
