Linda Thacker Lummus, age 85, passed away peacefully at her residence in Ball Ground, GA, on May 22, 2025. Born on March 23, 1940, in Atlanta, GA.
For over three decades, Linda served the Cherokee County Board of Education beginning as a bus driver and later training and testing the next generations of drivers. Her commitment to safety and guidance left a lasting imprint on the community.
A member of Sardis Baptist Church, her faith was the cornerstone of her life. She enjoyed reading, cooking, bird watching, and the serene melodies of her wind chimes. Linda had an unselfish nature, unwavering care for others, and infectious humor.
Above all, Linda placed her family at the forefront. She was a beacon of love and servantship, exemplifying what it means to lead a life grounded in selflessness and laughter. Her legacy will resonate through the lives of those she so profoundly influenced.
Linda is survived by her husband of over 63 years, Donald Lummus; children, Donald H. Lummus, Ronald Lummus (Sally), Connie Gaddis (Kenneth), John Lummus (Mandy) and Carol Gibbs (Shannon); grandchildren, Ashley Bowling (Jason), Veronica Lummus, Hunter Gaddis, Callie Gaddis, Levi Gibbs and Logan Gibbs; great-grandchildren, Cash Bowling, Blakley Bowling and Hayes Gibbs; sister, June Day; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 25, 2025 at the Sosebee Memorial Chapel with Pastor Michael Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, May 24th from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, May 25th from 2:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.
