Linda Jeanne Maxwell, 73, a longtime resident of Dimmitt, Texas, completed her life with Victory on Thursday, September 25, 2025, in her home surrounded by her family. Memorial Services will be held on Monday, September 29, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Dimmitt with Dr. Jonathan Sullivan officiating. Arrangements and cremation services have been entrusted to Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt, Texas.

Linda was born on November 13, 1951, to Fred and Jeanne Thackeray in Great Bend, Kansas. Her family moved to Crane, Texas, while she was still in elementary school. She graduated from Crane High School in 1970. She later attended and graduated from Dallas Christian College in 1973 with a bachelor's degree in Christian education. Shortly thereafter, she met and married the love of her life, Leroy Howard Maxwell, on May 25, 1973, and had a wonderful life together for 52 years and three beautiful children. Leroy and Linda later made Dimmitt their home in 1974. Linda began working for the Castro County Newspaper in 1975 and remained there for 25 years. She later began working for the United States Postal Service for 8 years, retiring in 2010.

Linda loved and cherished nothing more than having her family with her, playing games, watching movies and using her creative skills to make something fun out of nothing. She enjoyed the thrill of the hunt in going to garage sales and thrift stores, she loved gardening and making her and Leroy's backyard an oasis. She took great pleasure in sitting outside and listening to the windchimes and the birds. She had a great passion for worshipping her Lord and Savior and delighted in singing in the church choir, volunteering in the children's ministry with her puppets and reading books to the preschoolers. Linda's presence, laughter and beautiful voice will be missed by all who love her.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband, Leroy Howard Maxwell; her children, David Maxwell and his wife Carrie of Amarillo, Daniel Maxwell and his wife Tifannie of Amarillo, and Mindy Rushing and her husband Marion of Friona; her 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren whom she adored; and her 4 sisters, Diana Applin and her husband Marvin, Colleen Berry and her husband Michael, Chris Petree and her husband Bob and Karen Parker and her husband Jim.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Margaret Hoyt.

Honorary Pallbearers will be, Cary Jackson, Charlie Summers, Vernon Cobb, David Schaffer, Roger Malone, Wayne Proffitt and Colby Gilbreath.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church Dimmitt Children's Ministry, New Horizon Emmaus Community, or The Don Harrington Cancer Center.
