Linda “Louise” McDougald, affectionately known to her friends and family as Lou, Louise and Granny, a beloved wife, mother, sister, granny, and great-granny, passed away peacefully at home in Sweeny, Texas, on October 7, 2024. She embraced her final moments surrounded by her loving family after a long, courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. Louise was born on March 27, 1943, and spent her life cultivating not only beautiful but also deep connections with those she cherished, including a son (John David) who was born on her 26th birthday.

Louise graduated from high school in Lawton, Oklahoma, and carried her warmth and kindness throughout her life. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Sweeny, Tx, finding joy in serving her community and nurturing her faith. Her love for gardening brought color and life to her surroundings, creating a welcoming haven for family and friends. She found immense joy in travel, often using her adventures to gather memories that would last a lifetime.

Louise leaves behind her devoted husband of 64 years, Joe Ed McDougald, who stood by her side through all of life's seasons. She also cherished her son, John David McDougald, who carried her spirit within him. Louise shared a special bond with her sisters, Beckie Morris and Carolyn Collins, who brought laughter and comfort in times of need. The legacy of love she created is further reflected in her seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, who were blessed to have a grandmother who adored them unconditionally.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Nina Collins, along with her son, James Allen McDougald, daughter, Jolinda Davenport, sister Beth Collins, brother James Oscar Collins, sister Martha Doolen, and brother-in-law Fred McDougald. Louise’s memory continues in the hearts of her family, who cherish her strong spirit and the love she freely shared.

Louise is survived by her husband, Joe Ed McDougald, son John David and wife Kathleen McDougald, son-in-law Rod Davenport, sisters Beckie Morris and Carolyn Collins, grandchildren Brandi and Josh, JD, Sandy and Jonathan, David and Diane, Mark and Heather, Jesse, Jamison and fourteen great-grandchildren Dillon, Alyssa, Kaiden, Collin, Sabrina, Kamryn, Hunter, Olivia, Johnathan, Keegan, Lhotse, Layton, Addison, and Greyson as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be grandsons JD Davenport, Mark McDougald, David McDougald, Jessie McDougald, Jamison McDougald, Josh Lucher. Honorary Pallbearers are Dillion Davenport and Jonathan Fenner.

Louise's life will be honored with a visitation at First Baptist Church of Sweeny on Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 10:30 AM to 11:45 AM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM. She will be laid to rest at Sweeny Cemetery, where family and friends will gather for interment at 1:15 PM. As we say goodbye, we are reminded of Louise’s incredible journey, one marked by love, joy, and resilience that has touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the Hospice team at Angels Care Hospice in Bay City for the wonderful care they gave to Louise.
