Linda D. (Mason) McPhee
January 10, 1951 - February 4, 2023
Linda D. (Mason) McPhee, 72, of Windham, Maine died Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Maine Medical Center. She was born in Portland on January 10, 1951, the daughter of the late Linwood C. and Barbara A. Mason.
Linda attended Portland schools and graduated from the University of Southern Maine with a bachelors degree in psychology. Linda worked at Big Buy Supermarket and obtained her real estate license before pursuing her true passion in behavioral health. She worked at Jackson Brook Institute in South Portland and St. Mary's in Lewiston, retiring in 2016. She was a strong advocate and showed genuine compassion for those struggling with substance abuse and their mental health.
Linda was a loving "Mimi" who adored her grandchildren. Benjamin and Lindsey were her pride and joy. She loved spending time with them and celebrating every milestone with them. She was their biggest fan, one year she even dressed up as Robin to partner with Benjamin who was Batman.
Linda was an avid reader and a familiar face at local libraries. She was always curious to know what others were reading and happy to share her recommendations. A sign in her home which quoted Thomas Jefferson summed up her love of reading perfectly: "I cannot live without books."
Linda celebrated every day and loved telling her friends and family she was thinking of them. Any event, no matter how big or small, warranted a greeting card in Linda's mind. She could always find the perfect card to let you know she was thinking of you. She also enjoyed exchanging handwritten letters with friends. She had a passion for photography and captured all of the family moments in photos. Linda enjoyed live entertainment including local theater and the comedy of Bob Marley. Linda was thrilled to have won a radio contest years back to see Sting perform live in London.
Linda is survived by her daughter Caj L. MacDonald and her husband Kevin of Raymond, her sister Vickie L. Devlin and her husband Stuart of Wells, her brother Steven R. Mason of Windham, two grandchildren Benjamin and Lindsey, two nieces, Kristen E. Arcand and her husband Raymond and their children Ray, Ella, and Paddy of Newburyport, Massachusetts, and Kaitlin E. Devlin of wells, as well as many dear friends. In addition to her parents, Linda was predeceased by her beloved Golden Retriever, Donna.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2023, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at The Landing at Pine Point, 353 Pine Point Road, Scarborough, Maine.
