Linda Sue Allen Oxendine, aged 76, of 149 Elarce Drive, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at UNC Chapel Hill after a brief illness. Born on January 21, 1949, in Lumberton, NC, she was the cherished daughter of the late Elizabeth "Dink" Allen.

Linda was renowned for her strong will, and she made sure everyone knew she was "the boss" right up to her final days. Her life was deeply rooted in love, faith, and unwavering devotion to her grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered for sharing captivating stories about the Allens of Hestertown, the Allen graveyard, and the day to day of Lumberton in the 60's. Linda was a remarkable woman-authentic and dependable, always true to her word

Linda was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Jessie Spurgeon; her son, Finish Oxendine; her grandson, Trevor Lee Oxendine; her great-grandson, Travis Lee Bullard; and her brother, Leon Allen.

She is survived by five sons: Ernest Copeland of Lumberton, James Oxendine of Pembroke, Tracy Oxendine of Lumberton, Elarce (Lori) of Lumberton, and Jesse Kelvin (Leslie) of Fairmont. She also leaves behind three stepdaughters: Zina Phillips, Tina Oxendine, and Dina Oxendine, all of Pembroke; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth Allen (Anita); and two sisters, Evelyn Locklear and Judy Oxendine of Pembroke.

Throughout her life, Linda touched many lives, prepared countless meals, and loved many children. Her home was always open; she loved and cherished each one of you like her own.
