Linda Mae Rivera, a beacon of laughter and wisdom, passed away on July 3, 2025, at the age of 42, in Midland, Michigan. Born on September 24, 1982, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Linda's vivacious spirit and unwavering kindness touched the lives of all who knew her.
Linda was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She leaves behind a legacy of love and perseverance, embodied by her two precious daughters, Manhattan Sophia Olewinski and MaKayla Frances Olewinski of Grand Rapids. Linda was a cherished daughter to Frank Holmes Rivera Jr. of Midland and was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia Rivera. She is also survived by her brother, Julian & Toni Etienne of Midland; nieces Mackenzie (Etienne) & Dante Williams of Midland, Maya Etienne of Evansville, Indiana, and Mariana Etienne of Midland. Her loving presence will be deeply missed by her sisters, Lisa Rivera of Orlando, Florida, and Tina Rivera of Grand Rapids, Michigan, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins from across the United States, Guyana, Trinidad, and United Kingdom.
Linda's pursuit of justice and her passion for helping others was evident in her studies in Criminal Justice at Grand Rapids Community College. Her dedication to her family shone brightly when she saved her sister's life from Lymphoma by being a bone marrow donor in 2018, a testament to her selfless nature.
A woman of spiritual faith, Linda navigated life with an unwavering sense of wonder. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as socializing with friends, immersing herself in music, taking long walks, and indulging in her favorite podcasts. Linda was an amazing dancer & singer, a talent she kept hidden. Above all, Linda's world revolved around her daughters. trying her best to ensure they knew they had love, support & family.
Described by those who knew her as funny, intelligent, and creative, Linda approached every challenge with humor and ingenuity. Her quick wit and brilliant mind made her an unforgettable presence, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those she encountered.
As we bid farewell to Linda Mae Rivera, we celebrate a life lived with passion and purpose. Her legacy of love, compassion, and creativity will continue to inspire and guide us. Linda's memory will be cherished and honored by all who were fortunate enough to experience the warmth of her smile and the depth of her kindness.
Memorial services for Linda will take place 4 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2025, from the Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Chapel, 1200 West Wheeler Street with Rev. Dr. Anthony Revis officiating. Linda's family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until time of the service.
