Linda Dalores Simpson, 81, passed away on January 7, 2023, in Bedford, Texas after a series of recent health issues. She was surrounded by her family and a few close friends at the time of her passing.
Linda was born on October 10, 1941 in Miami, FL, to Lilly & Lloyd Powell.
She graduated in the top 10% of her senior class at Miami High School in 1959 and went on to start her career at Delta Airlines as a flight attendant in 1963 through 1968.
Linda met her future husband Gerald G. Simpson at Delta Airlines and were married on June 1, 1968. The couple had 2 children, Patricia L. Simpson Sansone and Scott D. Simpson.
Linda was best known for being an avid reader, her quick witted intelligence and her ability to recall details and statistics especially in the football and baseball sports genre (both were her favorite sports to watch until she started watching her grandsons play lacrosse through the past decade). Linda has lived in many interesting places with her parents as a child, such as The Marshall Islands, Guam and Pakistan but came back to Miami High School where she was a cheerleader and played several sports. She never shied from adventure and travel but Linda's real legacy is her genuine way of connecting with people, her love and loyalty to family especially as a wife and a nurturing mother who also opened her home to many extra friends of her children throughout the years.
Linda is survived by her husband - Ret. Captain Gerald George Simpson (Jerry), of Sunset; Patricia Lynn Sansone - daughter, of Trophy Club; her two grandsons- Victor James Sansone IV and Nicolas Scott Sansone, both of Trophy Club; Sarah Lou Powell Mastay - sister, of Homestead, FL; Richard Lloyd Powell - brother, of Bedford; two sisters in law, two brothers in law and several nieces and nephews.
Linda is preceded in death by Lilly & Lloyd Powell - parents, Scott D. Simpson - son, and William L. Powell - brother
Linda's ashes will be spread in southern Colorado in late summer along a stretch of area where she and her family spent many summers.
