Linda Faye Bennett Swift, 70, of Waycross, Georgia, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at Meadows Park Health and Rehabilitation.
Linda was born on April 17, 1954, in Blackshear, Georgia, to Leroy Bennett Sr. and Leatha Carnegie. She graduated from Waycross High School in 1973 and pursued a career in Early Nursing. Linda had a passion for cooking, praising the Lord, and caring for her friends and family.
Her spiritual journey began at the tender age of 12 when she was saved and filled with the Holy Ghost. From that moment forward, Linda dedicated her life to leading many souls to Christ. She was a devoted member of The First Born Church of the Living God Inc. #2 (Hebardville), where she served faithfully under the leadership of Elder Willie Rhoden and later Elder Freddie Tisby for over 20 years.
Linda's unwavering faith led her to serve in many capacities, including leading devotion, directing the choir, serving as a deaconess, and ultimately answering the call to preach. In 2001, she became the Senior Pastor and Founder of Last Day Ministry in Waycross, Georgia. Later in life, she became a cherished member of True House of Deliverance under Pastor Juliette Howard. Even during her time at Meadows Park Health and Rehabilitation, Linda continued to touch lives through praise and song, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Linda's beautiful voice and heartfelt worship will be remembered by many, as well as her compassionate spirit and servant's heart.
On November 9, 1992, Linda married the love of her life, Lester Swift, in Charlton County, with Elder John Scott Jr. officiating. Together, they shared a long and blessed marriage filled with love, joy, and cherished memories.
Remaining to cherish Linda's memory are her children James Atkins Jr. (Sheila) and Ariane Howard (Joel); grandchildren: Najeria Harden (Christopher), Au'Teony Burse, Quatilious Barnes (Felicia), Nasstaja Atkins, Quasha Barnes, and Aubrianna Atkins; great-grands; brothers: James Bennett (Ophelia) and Leroy Bennett Jr.(Mary); sisters: Juliette Howard (Aaron) and Milliedean Gadson (Bruce Sr.) and a host of nieces and nephews. She created precious memories with two devoted goddaughters: Audrey Dinkins and Krystal Oliver as well as three best friends: Patricia Shider, Barbara Hawkins, and Barbara King.
