In the early evening of Monday August 25, Linda Sue (Furness) Tassi, (74), quietly and peacefully passed into God's loving care with her husband John at her side.
Linda was born on June 17th, 1951, to William & Edith Furness in Everett, Ma. The family later moved to Marshfield, MA where Linda grew up, graduating from Marshfield High in 1969, After high school, Linda attended the Cape Cod Hospital School of Nursing graduating as an LPN in 1970. She went on to accept a position at South Shore Hospital in 1975 recently celebrating 50 years of service.
As a young adult, Linda enjoyed an active social life and in 1971 met a young man while out for an evening in Boston, He asked her to dance. That dance led to marriage in 1972 and a lifetime together, raising two sons, John Jr. and Jason.
In her chosen profession of nursing, Linda devoted herself to a life of helping others, caring more about them than herself. When she wasn't at work, Linda liked walking on the beach, just sitting in the sun watching the waves, or enjoying a meal overlooking the ocean, especially fried clams often dinning at a number of seafood restaurants with John. As much as she enjoyed eating out, she also loved entertaining and cooking for her family and guests. When the boys were young and for many years after, vacations to New Hampshire were a favorite pastime, especially at the Indian Head Resort.
She was preceded in death by her brother, William B. Furness Jr., sisters, Barbara Doll, Marion Resendes and beloved niece Cheryl Clark.
Linda is survived by her husband of 52 years, John, her sons, John Jr. and loving friend Jackie, Jason and his wife Tracy, her grandson, Jackson, her sister Nancy Thomas and husband Howard, plus several nephews and nieces.
In her final days Linda was extremely grateful for the care and support provided by her other family, the nurses she worked with at South Shore Hospital. From her first visit to the hospital in June, until the moment of her passing, Linda was constantly in their care. They prepared meals, brought gifts, and provided personal care almost around the clock. Even after her passing, they continue to be in touch with John. In her own words she wrote:
"I am so blessed to have so many loving
supportive people surrounding me."
Services will be held at Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Carver, Ma on Saturday September 13, 2025, from 12:00 to 4:00 PM.
