Anthony Tassi

Anthony (Tony, Tas) Tassi died peacefully on May 29, 2025, after 98 amazing years that were lived to the fullest.
Antonio Giuseppe Tassi was born on August 2, 1926, to parents Domenico B. Tassi and Anna Ginocchio Tassi and as he told the story- on the kitchen table at 114 Christopher Street in New York. He had two sisters, Catherine and Rose and a brother, John.
Raised on Long Island, NY where he attended Sewanaka High School and volunteered as a firefighter for the Belrose Fire Department.
Anthony enlisted in the U.S. Navy, at age 17, and served for two years. One year in Okinawa, Japan and one year in the states. He lost his brother, John, in the war while he was serving.
He met his wife, Joan, and they married on April 22, 1950, and were together 70 years until she passed. A true love story.
In 1956 Tony and Joan moved to Maryland for his job as a Glidden Paint Sales Representative and that would remain as his career for the rest of his time working. He loved it.
After moving to Maryland, as an avid lover of boating and the bay, Tony became a member of the Baltimore Yacht club and quickly developed many lasting friendships. He also volunteered with the Coast Guard Auxiliary and the U.S. Power Squadron and was an instructor for Boat Safety.
Many cruises, pier parties and vacations with friends followed over the years.
Tony is preceded in death by his wife, Joan, and survived by his son, Stephen Tassi and his wife, Dee of Fairfax, VA; his two daughters JoAnne Tassi of Hampstead MD and Cheryl Wist and her husband Paul Wist of Hampstead MD; grandchildren Phillip and his wife, Chavilah; Sandra and her husband, John; Brad and his partner Melissa; Heather and her husband, Jared and great grandchildren Hazel and Mick.
A family Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
