Linda C. Vecchi, 72, a lifelong resident of Dutchess County, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie.
Born on August 8, 1953, in Poughkeepsie, Linda was the daughter of the late John Jess Schofield Sr. and Ellie Ronk Schofield MacDonald. She was also predeceased by her mother's second husband, Mac MacDonald, whom she lovingly regarded as a father figure.
A 1971 graduate of John Jay High School, Linda had a lifelong appreciation for nature, especially flowers and gardening. Her greatest joy, however, came from spending time with her family.
Linda is survived by her two daughters, Danielle Zykoff and husband, Chad, of Houston, TX, and Catherine Duke and husband, Patrick, of Poughkeepsie; her grandchildren, Alicia Guerra (Patric) of Brookfield, CT, and Alexis and Ryan Duke, both of Poughkeepsie; and her great-granddaughter, Liliana. She also leaves behind her twin sister, Cindy Gardecki of Stowe, VT; nieces and nephews, Jennifer, Susan, Stacy, and Scott and their families; and sister-in-law, Nancy Schofield of Rochester, NY.
In addition to her parents, Linda was predeceased by her brother, John Schofield Jr.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place.
Memorial calling hours will be held from 1 to 3 PM on Friday, October 17th at Sweet's Funeral Home, Route 9, Hyde Park. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:30 PM during the visitation.
In honor of Linda's memory, her family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the National MS Society, P.O. Box 91891, Washington, D.C. 20090-1891, or online at www.nationalmssociety.org.
