He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. REV 21:4
Linnette Woodman M.D., 56, of Lafayette, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday September 5, 2024.
Linnette was born to her always proud parents, Melvin and Shurnette Maier, on March 6, 1968 in Granite City, Illinois. Along with her husband, Darrell, and children, her parents survive. Her brother Michael (Kimi) Maier from Phoenix, AZ, and her brother-in-law Jess (Ginger) Woodman from Godfrey, IL and multiple nieces and nephews also survive.
After high school graduation, Linnette attended and graduated from the University of Missouri for her Bachelor's degree and medical school with honors. She then did an internal medicine and pediatrics residency at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis. Completing this, she joined Alton Multi-Specialist Physicians group in Alton, IL. It was while in Alton that she met her husband Darrell Woodman. They met at Alton First Southern Baptist Church and were married there on May 24, 2003.
In 2004, Linnette and Darrell made the difficult decision to move to Lafayette, IN. Linnette wanted to focus solely on Pediatrics, and she joined what was then known as Arnett Clinic and now is IU Health. During her 18 years of practice there Linnette was able to touch many lives of families in the area and created many lasting friendships. During this time, Linnette and Darrell were blessed with two amazing children, Luke (15) and Emma (14). Linnette loved their children dearly, and most nights you could find her at a sporting event cheering for her kids and their wonderful friends. In 2020, we acquired our 3rd and furriest child, Bentley, and he was attached to Linnette at the hip. She claimed she was never really a dog person, but Bentley got steak for his birthdays. I think she was more of a dog person than she thought.
Linnette was a servant at heart. She was a faithful member at Faith Church since 2004. She retired from practice in January of 2022 and even in retirement she would get calls, texts and visits from people that she continued to help with their medical concerns. Linnette followed the Biblical Principal of "Honor your father and mother" to a tee. She served them well! She was very generous to those in need and always assumed the best of those who needed help. She could not say no to them. She devoted her life to helping others. She was loved by many. Emma said that they could not go to the store without running into a former patient, and they would talk for what seemed like an eternity to Emma. They would always tell her that they wished she would come back to medicine. She always went above and beyond, and the words "that is good enough " were not in her vocabulary.
Linnette was the adventurous one in the family. She loved rollercoasters and would stay in the amusement parks until they made her leave. She enjoyed SCUBA diving, was PADI certified, and she was scheduled to take her dream dive trip this October. She loved to travel, and her favorite places were Hawaii, St. Lucia, and Grand Cayman because she loved to scuba dive. The family had recently visited Alaska, Mexico, and France. She looked forward to traveling more and seeing all of Europe. She was a voracious reader and student even as an adult. She was extremely dedicated in studying her Bible and memorization. She would "geek out" when the kids would bring their science books home from school and sit and read through them. She was the hardest working person we knew.
Visitation will be at Faith Church East 5526 IN 26, Lafayette, IN, 47905 from 4-8 on Thursday, September 12, and the funeral service will be at the same location at 11am on Friday September 13th. Pastor Rob Green will be officiating. Graveside services will be private. In lieu of normal remembrances, gifts can be made to Faith Church Vision of Hope or Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis. I remember at my brother, Dawson´s baseball games she would always be smiling and she was the nicest person ever! She treated everyone switch respect. One thing I will always remember about her was her smile.

I met Dr Woodman in the nursery at Home Hospital. She was a new pediatrician and I was an RN working in the nursery. She was such a beautiful person with a huge heart . She will be missed .
