Lionel “Pete” J Vaillancourt, 80 died peacefully at the Veteran’s Home (Tilton) on Wednesday February 19, 2025.
Pete was born in Nashua on August 28,1944 and was the son of the late Adelard and Camilla (Thibault) Vaillancourt and attended Nashua High School. He is a proud veteran of the U.S. Army in which he served several years of active duty in the Vietnam War.
Before retiring, Pete found his passion in his profession as a State Service Officer for the Veterans of Foreign Wars where he worked for over 20 years. He was proud to have helped veterans receive their deserved benefits. In his life his enjoyment included snowmobiling, riding his motorcycle and trike, being outside on his swing making friends with the birds and animals, and watching war movies. Very dear to Pete were his pet goats (Tasha, Almonzo, Junie B, May-Z, Ranger and Lucky) that he rescued from the Live and Let Live Farm.
In addition to his partner, Carol Caron (Webster) he is survived by his son Steven Vaillancourt (Manchester); son Scott Vaillancourt and his wife Rachel (Goffstown); daughter Susan Mastroberte (Vaillancourt) and her husband Mark (Rochester), 4 grandchildren; Sky Blue Vaillancourt (AL), Zachary Vaillancourt (CA), Samantha Mastroberte (Rochester), Jillian Mastroberte (Rochester); great grandson; Zeno Vaillancourt (CA); sister Alice Belanger (Nashua); sister in-laws; Jeanne Vaillancourt (Nashua), Shirley Vaillancourt (Pelham), Alice Vaillancourt (RI), Jacqueline St Laurent (Nashua) and many nieces and nephews. Pete was predeceased by his wife Nancy Swift (Vaillancourt); siblings, Edmond, Rene, Norman, Romuald, Robert Vaillancourt and his sister Jackie Lizzie
Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Friday, February 28, from 12:30PM-2:30PM at The Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 172 King St. Boscawen, NH 03303. Immediately following will be a committal service with Military Honors at the NH State Veteran’s Cemetery Chapel, 110 Daniel Webster Hwy, Boscawen, NH 03303.
The family asks to those who wish, in lieu of flowers a donation to Pete’s favorite charities; St Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Live and Let Live Farm (Chichester NH) will be appreciated.
