"Lisa Ann Barker, of San Antonio, Texas, beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 1, 2025, at age 65.
She was born on July 4, 1960, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Raymond Lee Overstreet and Ozella Faydene Overstreet. Lisa was the youngest and only daughter among four siblings. From an early age, music was her passion. As a child, she was active in her church, playing the piano and singing gospel music with her lovely voice. She especially loved country, folk, and bluegrass music and began writing her own songs at 14 years old. Over the years, she sang, played piano, guitar, and mandolin, and carried her love of music throughout her life.
After graduating from Searcy High School in Searcy, Arkansas, in 1978, Lisa moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where she studied interior design. In 1980, she moved to Houston, Texas, to work for CBS Records. During that time, she worked in the new artist division, meeting many emerging musical artists, including Ricky Skaggs and John Schneider, whom she fondly recalled singing "Happy Birthday" to her once.
In her first marriage, Lisa raised two daughters, Erin Lesley and Amanda Leigh, in Cypress, Texas, where her family was active at the Met Church. She worked as a real estate agent, loved interior decorating, and enjoyed taking her daughters to craft shows and wildflower trips in the Texas Hill Country. Taking care of her family and home was the most important thing to her, and she was always involved in her daughters' extracurricular activities; including music lessons, horseback riding, dance, sports, and art. Lisa loved animals dearly and raised many pets; horses, goats, rabbits, birds, fish, cats, and dogs.
In 2004, she married Jeffrey Frank Barker, and they shared 21 years of marriage. Throughout this marriage, she became an incredible stepmother to Jeff's two children, Jeffrey Chelsey and Arianna Priscilla. In 2009, Jeff and Lisa moved into their dream home in Denver, Colorado. While there, Lisa continued working in the real estate industry as a Transaction Coordinator. She often said that her father, who worked in the building business for 40 years, passed on to her both his knowledge and instincts about the industry. Jeff and Lisa were like two puzzle pieces that fit perfectly together and shared many hobbies. They loved hiking, attending live music shows, and traveling together. They packed more adventures into 21 years than most people experience in a lifetime and traveled to many places; including Singapore (where they lived for a year), Scotland, Greece, Italy, Australia, Japan, Bali, Malaysia, China, and Canada. Their motto was, "Not all who wander are lost."
Lisa will be remembered for her loyalty and dedication to her family, wanderlust, love for animals, history, nature, and music. She was a fun-loving, witty person who was quick with a smile and a laugh, and a deeply spiritual woman who loved Jesus. She was a compassionate, giving person who always had time to listen to a friend or family member in need. She felt deeply for those in need, whether human or animal. She stood by her family and friends during hard times, and those who knew her best will forever be inspired by her strength and courageous battle with health issues spanning over three decades. Lisa never gave up and kept fighting. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her loving husband Jeff Barker; her four children, daughter Erin Lewis and son-in-law Jack Lewis of
Castroville, Texas; daughter Amanda Meyers and son-in-law Avenue Meyers of Sumter, South Carolina; son Jeffrey Barker and daughter-in-law Stephanie Barker of Houston, Texas; daughter Arianna Barker of Los Angeles, California; her brother Keith Overstreet and sister-in-law Kathy Overstreet of Fort Worth, Texas; four grandchildren Jack, Tristan, Austin, and Raymond; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Lisa is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Gary and Michael Overstreet, nephew Mason Overstreet, and granddaughter Faye Meyers.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday, September 13, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Castroville, 1408 Alsace Ave,
Castroville, Texas 78009.
"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain." Revelation 21:4.
