Lisa graduated from Clearview High School and went on to achieve a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Akron. She worked for two years at Lorain Community Hospital. Lisa married Jon Lachman in 1986. They moved to Granville, Ohio where she worked for nine years at Mount Carmel East Hospital. During that time Lisa gave birth to Jeremy in 1992 and to Katie in 1993. In 1995, the family moved to Arapahoe, NC where they have lived to the present day. During that time, Lisa worked for 25 years at Carolina East Hospital. She spent many hours volunteering for the Pamlico County School System. She loved serving as PTA president and volunteering in the classroom. One of the most rewarding volunteer jobs she took on was running the high school softball concession stand.
