Lisa LaRae Miller 63, of Brookings, SD passed away surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle against cancer on Monday, November 10, 2025. Memorial Services have been set for 10:30am Saturday, November 15, 2025 at First United Methodist Church, Brookings, SD. Memorial Visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm Friday, November 14, 2025 with a 6:30pm Prayer Service at Rude's Funeral Home, Brookings, SD. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to McCrory Gardens in Brookings (Giving to McCrory Gardens), the Alzheimer's Association (Alzheimer's Association), or the National Leiomyosarcoma Foundation for cancer research (National Leiomyosarcoma Foundation).

Lisa LaRae Dimmick was born to Donald Clifford Dimmick and Marjorie Mae (Bauder) Dimmick on September 27, 1962, in Hawarden, Iowa, and died on November 10, 2025, in Brookings, South Dakota. She graduated from West Sioux High School in Hawarden and from the University of South Dakota with an associate degree in nursing. She married Matt Miller on June 12, 1982. Lisa worked as a nurse in several locations as the young family moved around the Midwest, before settling in Brookings, SD. Here, she directed staff development at the United Living Center, where she became head nurse. She retired, due to her illness, from Avera Brookings Medical Clinic.

Lisa's life was defined by faith, family, love, and service. During her childhood years there were many fond memories of camping with family friends and time spent with her parents, grandparents, siblings, and cousins. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in every community in which she resided. In recent years, Lisa helped develop a support group in Brookings for families of those with Alzheimer's Disease and related dementias. Her three sons and their families were Lisa's greatest joy. She cherished time with her grandchildren, who loved her special hugs and cookies. Lisa enjoyed traveling, reading, music, knitting, Jackrabbit Athletics, and working in her beautiful flower garden. She was warm and outgoing, making and keeping many treasured friendships.

Lisa is survived by her mother Marge (Bauder) Dimmick; her husband of 43 years, Matt; by sons, Josh (Jill), Norwalk, IA; Ryan (Tara), Brookings, SD; and Mitch (Maggie), Brookings, SD; her grandchildren, Karly and Brooke McKinney, Noah and Liza Miller, Max and Miles Miller. She is also survived by her siblings, Lynn Baldwin, Kansas City MO, Scott (Michelle) Dimmick, Kansas City, MO, and Dawn (Matt) Hummel, Hawarden, IA, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald, and her grandparents, Clifford (Ted) and Hanna Dimmick and Roy and Minnie Bauder.
