Lisa Diane Mitchell of Franklin, Tennessee died on Friday, August 22, 2025 at home with her family after a courageous fight against glioblastoma.

Lisa was born on January 29, 1965 in Benton, Kentucky. She grew up in the Reidland community of Paducah, Kentucky, graduating from Reidland High School in 1983.

Lisa was a devoted wife to husband, Cliff; mother to son, Chris and daughter, Scarlett; and daughter to parents, A.L. and Kay Doughty, ensuring all were cared for at all times, and she took great pride in that being her full time role for many years. She was also a cherished Mimi to her granddaughters, Isla and Addie, a title she always looked forward to and a relationship that meant the world to her. There was nothing more important to her than her family and her faith.

She found another true life passion in 2006 when she first began volunteering at Saddle Up!, a nonprofit therapeutic horseback riding facility for children and youth with disabilities in Franklin, TN. Through the years, she became more and more involved, transitioning from volunteer to staff member and eventually instructor, though always continuing as a volunteer in many capacities. She also helped to develop a vaulting program at Saddle Up!, one of the things she was most proud of. Even after her diagnosis of an aggressive glioblastoma brain cancer in April of 2023, she continued to give as much of her time and energy as possible to the organization, and she often credited the people, horses, and mission of Saddle Up! as helping her to continue fighting for as long as she did.

Lisa also found much joy in her dogs, spending a great deal of her time training and showing them through the years. She especially loved practicing and competing dock diving together with her husband and their flat coated retrievers, Callie and Keiva.

Lisa is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of over forty one years, Clifford Mitchell; her children, Christopher (Diana) Mitchell and Scarlett (Justin) Frazier; grandchildren, Isla Jane and Adeline Diane Frazier; mother, Marilyn Kay Doughty; sisters, Pam (Barry) Pryor and Debbie Doughty; mother-in-law, Ann Mitchell; siblings-in-law, Pete Mitchell, Brian (Sharon) Mitchell, Kathy (Johnny) Caruthers, Kelly (Doug) Sikes, Tina (Steve) Claypool, Annie (Tyler) Swoope, and Nancy (Kevin) Scott; and many, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her beloved father, Amazire Alonzo “A.L.” Doughty; niece, Jessica Lynn; niece, Abigail Swoope; sister-in-law, Krista Mitchell; and many cherished extended family members.

Friends and family are invited to a celebration of life at Southland Baptist Temple in Paducah, Kentucky, as well as a celebration of life at Saddle Up! in Franklin, Tennessee, with dates and times for both to be found here once established. In lieu of flowers, Lisa personally requested donations be made to Saddle Up! which can be made via https://www.saddleupnashville.org/how-you-can-help/ or in person at the celebration of life event being held there.
