Lisa Marnette Skipworth, 68, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away peacefully on October 4,
2024, in McPherson. She was born on August 14, 1956, in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, to Alice E.
Maher (Jantz) and Robert E. Maher Sr.
Lisa attended school in McPherson and Marquette, Kansas. She was a beloved mother,
grandmother, sister, and friend, known for her gentle spirit and unique ability to make others
feel truly heard and loved. Her kindness and compassion left a lasting impact on everyone she
encountered, and her unwavering love for her family was at the heart of everything she did.
Lisa is survived by her two daughters, Mary Bowler and Toni Cabezas, as well as her two
grandsons, Liev Bowler and Bradley Cabezas, whom she adored. She is also survived by her
brothers, Daniel Maher (Nancy) and Kirk Maher. She was preceded in death by her parents and
her brother, Robert Maher Jr.
Lisa dedicated the majority of her career to serving individuals with developmental disabilities,
managing intermediate care facilities at Multi-Community Diversified Services. Her compassion
and dedication positively impacted countless lives. She later worked at Angel Arms Home
Health and McPherson Hospital, from which she retired.
She was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, honoring the military
service of her father and brother.
In retirement, Lisa found immense joy in caring for her grandson Bradley. She fully embraced
her love for the outdoors, whether camping at the lake, watching meteor showers, or spending
quiet moments in nature, she found peace and happiness in the simple pleasures of life.
A volunteer at Save and Share, a local non-profit thrift store, Lisa was committed to giving back
to her community. She will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and the love she shared
with those around her.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at 2:00PM at Glidden-Ediger-
Wiggins Funeral Home in McPherson. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lisa's memory to Tammy Walker Cancer Center or Multi-Community Diversified Services.

I was so sorry to hear of Lisa's passing. I learned to know her at Save-n-Share, and found out we were distantly related (3rd cousins on the Jantz side). I enjoyed visiting with her so much, especially since we talked about being "family." I know when she talked about her illness she was ready to meet Jesus, and that gives me so much comfort. May God be with your family during this hard time, and give you His peace! Linda Andersen
