Lisa Dart Waddell was born in Tallahassee, Florida on February 25, 1967, to William C. (Bill) Dart and Jewell C. Dart. She passed away peacefully at the Old Water Oak family home on December 8, 2023.
Lisa lived in Tallahassee her entire life. She attended Timberlane Elementary, Raa Middle School, Leon High and graduated from Maclay School.
She attended Florida State University, earning a bachelor's degree in 1989 in marketing and communications. She became a member of Kappa Delta Sorority and the Lady Scalphunters. She met her husband Jim at Kappa Alpha Order during Little Sister Rush, and in later years was selected by the Chapter as their KA Rose (Sweetheart).
After graduation, Lisa immediately began a career in pharmaceutical sales that spanned 23 years. She excelled at every level, from becoming a Top 10% Rep. in her first full year of service with Kos Pharmaceuticals to her last engagement with the Tallahassee Team of Astra Zeneca. Her success was based on the simple philosophy taken from the quote by Theodore Roosevelt – "People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care."
She made lifelong friends with her customers, which carried over into her personal life and came full circle with the next generation, as her children were raised with theirs, involving scouting, sports, and an appreciation of the arts.
Lisa enjoyed many things, but time at the beach, trips to the family farm in Macclenny, doing "stuff" with friends, shopping, desserts, reading, and event planning were at the top of the list. She often planned family trips that entailed some combination of "planes, trains, and automobiles."
Lisa is survived by her husband of 32 years Jim Waddell, son Nicholas Waddell, daughter Mary Catherine Waddell, her sister Lori Hearne, and niece Briley Hearne, as well as many uncles, aunts, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents William C. Dart and Jewell C. Dart.
Services will be at 3:00PM on Friday, December 15, 2023, at St. John's Episcopal Church, 211 N. Monroe Street, with a reception immediately following in Alfriend Hall. For those unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed at https://www.saint-john.org/event/waddellfuneral/
In recent years, Lisa's healthcare team was centered in Boston, MA at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Her primary head and neck oncologist, Dr. Glenn Hanna, a native of Florida, had worked with Lisa in a series of clinical trials, the latest of which was recently proposed to the FDA for Phase 3 research, with the goal of clearance for the first drug specifically approved for adenoid cystic carcinoma.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in memory of Lisa Waddell to support Dr. Glenn Hanna's Research Fund at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284. Please write checks to Dana-Farber and include Dr. Hanna's Research Fund in the memo section. To give online, please visit www.dfci.org/give
