Llewelynn Edward Winkel, affectionately known as Llyn, was born on October 27, 1957, in Ponoka, Alberta. He peacefully passed away on August 21, 2025, in Calgary, Alberta, surrounded by his loving family.
Llyn dedicated many years to working in the glazier business, where he found immense joy in installing windows in high-rise buildings. This was not just a job for him; it was a career he loved passionately.
Outside of his professional life, Llyn cherished the simple pleasures of everyday experiences. He enjoyed regular gatherings for coffee with a close-knit group of friends. He was also deeply passionate about nature and the outdoors, with hobbies that included fishing of any kind, barbecuing, camping, and tending to his garden at home. Being surrounded by nature brought him peace and happiness.
Llyn will be deeply missed by his loving partner and best friend, Joanne Kloppenburg. He is survived by his son, Tyler (Celest). Additionally, he is remembered by his sister, Leanne (Tim) Wulff, and his niece, Alicia, and nephew, Kyle, as well as many extended family members including aunts, uncles, and cousins. His cherished friendships extended far and wide, reflecting the warmth and kindness he shared with those around him.
Llyn's wishes were for a simple farewell without any service. In his memory, he encouraged everyone to embrace life as he did—by going fishing and enjoying a cold beer.
He is predeceased by his parents, Pearl and Edward Winkel. Llyn’s spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him, reminding us to cherish our moments together.
