MARQUETTE, MI - Lloyd Charles Seavoy, age 94, of Marquette and formerly of L'Anse, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at Mill Creek Assisted Living, while in the loving care of his family.
Lloyd was born October 7, 1931, in L'Anse, a son of Lloyd and H. Marie (Dahl) Seavoy. He was raised in L'Anse and graduated from L'Anse High School, Class of 1949. During his high school years, he excelled as a standout athlete in track and field, earning Upper Peninsula championships in the 440-yard relay, in shot put and the long jump.
Following graduation, Lloyd enlisted in the United States Navy, proudly serving his country during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, he returned home to L'Anse and briefly worked on the ore boats before beginning his longtime career as a sales supervisor with Our Own Bakeries. He retired in 1986. While working there, he and his wife also owned and operated the Dog-N-Suds restaurant in L'Anse. They provided many young people in the community with their first jobs, offering encouragement, mentorship, and opportunity.
In their retirement years, Lloyd and his wife, Carol, worked for Woodall's selling campground directory advertising, which allowed them to travel widely throughout Alaska and the Yukon Territory. Winters were spent in Dade City, Florida, where they enjoyed cheering for the Detroit Tigers at spring training in Lakeland. Lloyd was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and time spent in the great outdoors. He and Carol shared a love for travel and many miles of adventure in their camper.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Carol (Giddings) Seavoy; four children, Ken (Tami) Seavoy of Marquette, Roger (Lilly) Seavoy of McGrath, Alaska, Andy (Cathy) Seavoy of Utica, Michigan, and Ann (Rod) Gendron of Munising; eight grandchildren, Ben (fiancé Kristen) Seavoy, Carrie (fiancé Michael) Seavoy, Beth (Ben Drullinger) Seavoy, Erin (Steve) Hall, Megan (Sam) Frank, Eve Gendron, Adele (Joel) Werner, and Lilly Gendron; five great-grandchildren, Owen Frank, Hailey Frank, Joanna Werner, Louisa Werner, and Mabel Drullinger; his sister, Marie Coburn; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Jack, A. James, and Tom.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at St. Michael Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 noon with Rev. Jose Cherian officiating. Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery.
