Lloyd Wimberly, a cherished father, husband, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully in Albuquerque, New Mexico on May 21, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on February 6, 1950, in Clovis, New Mexico, Lloyd embodied warmth and kindness, leaving a profound impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Lloyd's journey through life began at West Mesa High School, where he graduated with pride. He cultivated a rich tapestry of interests and passions that defined him. Lloyd had a love for bowling, a sport that brought him joy and camaraderie. A skilled mechanic, he delighted in working on cars, often surrounded by tools that were an extension of his hands. This affinity for fixing things mirrored his approach to life—always ready to help others, find solutions, and lend a listening ear.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia Wimberly of 14 years, who was his partner in life and love. Together, they shared countless moments, building a family that reflected their caring spirit. Lloyd's legacy continues through his beloved sons, Lloyd Wimberly Jr. and Daniel Lopez, and his daughters, Denise Barraza and Crystal Roybal. He was a proud grandfather to 13 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to one cherished great-grandchild, whose laughter filled his heart with immense pride.
Lloyd had a brother, Wayne Wimberly, with whom he shared a close bond. His family, both immediate and extended, will hold dearly to the rich memories forged throughout his life. They will remember him not only for his unwavering support but also for his infectious laughter and gentle spirit that warmed their hearts.
Lloyd’s absence is deeply felt by all whose lives he touched, from family gatherings filled with laughter to quiet moments of reflection shared with those he loved. He was predeceased by his daughter, Emily Ulibarri, his parents Rufus and Thressa Wimberly, his wife Loureen Wimberly, and his ex-wife Jeanette Gutierrez. Their memories will be cherished alongside Lloyd’s, as he carries their love with him into eternity.
A funeral service to honor Lloyd's remarkable life will be held on May 29, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Daniels Family Funeral Services - Carlisle Chapel, located at 3113 Carlisle Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110. This gathering will serve as a celebration of the indelible mark he left on this world, allowing those who loved him to share stories, tears, and the joy of knowing such a wonderful man.
In this time of mourning, we remember the spirit of Lloyd Wimberly—a beacon of love, laughter, and unwavering support. Though he may have departed from this world, his memory will live on, forever cherished in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to be part of his journey.
