Loa Verda Bowen Wride
June 5, 1929 - February 23, 2025
Loa Verda Bowen Wride, age 95, passed away peacefully in her sleep, in the early morning on February 23, 2025. Loa was born on June 5, 1929, to George and Myrtle Bowen in Spanish Fork, UT, and was the fifth of six children. Loa had a happy childhood. Early in life she learned the value of hard work and the importance of a good education. She did well in school and was always helpful at home. Loa graduated from Burley High School in 1947 and later from Brigham Young University, Provo, UT, where she double majored and earned degrees in Business and Music. After graduation she taught business at Payson High School and later at Stevens-Henager College.
Loa met the love of her life, Evan Hayward Wride, at BYU. After graduating, they dated and were married in the Salt Lake City Temple on March 4, 1955 and settled in Southern California. There they were blessed to have four children and always felt their family was perfectly balanced–two boys and two
girls. Loa was additionally blessed to have 17 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Throughout her life, Loa loved making sure others were taken care of, at home, church, work, and wherever she was. As a stay-at-home mother, she cared for
her family and home with skill and love. Eventually, when her youngest child became more self-sufficient, Loa took a job as a secretary for Knolls Elementary School in Simi Valley, CA, where she worked as a beloved member of the school staff until retirement.
Music was an important part of Loa's life. Extremely talented at playing the piano, she was often requested to accompany school and church choirs and taught piano for many years in her home. She also loved to play loudly in the morning to wake her family. Loa and Evan retired and moved from Simi Valley, CA to St George, UT, and
after many happy years they moved to
Broomfield, CO to be near family. Loa was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and found joy in serving and ministering to the members of her ward.
Loa is survived by her children, Blake (Lorraine) Wride, Loralee (Mathew) Carnahan, Janell (Robert) Newman, and Dean (Sheri) Wride. She lived a long
happy life and was the last surviving sibling in her family. She was preceded into eternity by her husband Evan and her siblings: Aileen, Ned, John, Edward,
and Franklin.
Loa's life was a testament of her love for her Savior, Jesus Christ, her family, and her fellow man. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Her Funeral will be Friday, March 7th. The viewing will be at 10:00-10:45 am and the service starting at 11:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day
Saints, 1250 Main Street,
Broomfield, CO 80020. Her interment will follow at the Broomfield County Commons Cemetery.
