Lois Angela Avery (nee Wolfe) age 86 of Anderson Twp., passed away January 13, 2025. She was the beloved wife of William J. Avery, MD, fun-loving and devoted mother of Michelle (Scott) Keely, Marc (Mary Kay) Avery, Tanya (Richard) Perry, and the late W. Keith Avery, active and kindhearted "MooMa" (grandmother) of Andrew, Lauren, Alexander, and Julia, and loyal sister of the late Joyce Neff; all of whom she loved dearly. Lois was the heart of the family and will be missed ever so dearly.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 6539 Beechmont Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45230, on Wednesday, January 22nd at 10:30 a.m. where friends may visit from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. Interment and reception immediately following.

A native to Northern Kentucky, Lois grew up in Ft. Mitchell and went to Villa Madonna Academy. She obtained a BS in biology and along the way she met a handsome med student named Bill who became the love of her life. They were married for 64 years and it was a non-stop adventure thanks to Lois' zest for life.

The early years found the young family moving several times - all the way to California and back! - but before long they settled in Anderson Township where they planted roots and immersed themselves in the community, where she volunteered for many causes.

Though her degree was in biology, Lois had the heart of an artist. She was passionate about gourmet cooking, gardening and flower arranging, oil painting, and jewelry making. With her incredible green thumb, she could make any plant thrive and arrange them beautifully. Together, she and Bill sculpted their property into a mini landscaped paradise rivaling any arboretum.

Full of vitality and enthusiasm, Lois' love of fun things and special meals has brought so much joy into all our lives. From the little things like goofing off at the mall and sword fighting with wooden spoons in the kitchen to bigger things like vacations in Florida and their own Sunday Night Dinner Club. Wherever Lois was, there were sure to be lots of laughs.

Equal parts tender and compassionate, Lois had a heart for those in need, the suffering, the less fortunate, the emotionally hurting - for just about anyone who needed her sympathetic ear and kind words of support. Her gentile presence alone was often enough to console the needy spirit. Lois was devoted to the Rosary and Our Blessed Mother Mary.

A blessing to all who encountered her, it is Lois' deepest desire to be remembered, not with sadness, but with joy. She is dearly missed, but our hearts are still filled by her.

AFTER GLOW

I'd like the memory of me

to be a happy one,

I'd like to leave an afterglow

of smiles when the day is gone.

I'd like to leave an echo

whispering softly down the ways,

Of happy times, and laughing times,

and bright and sunny days.

I'd like the tears of those who grieve

to dry before the sun,

Of happy memories that I leave

when life is done.

(author unknown, but personally picked by Lois for her remembrance)
