Lois V. Bishop

Lois V. Bishop, 84, of Dana, North Carolina passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2024. She was born in Hendersonville, NC on March 20, 1940 and was the daughter of Gertrude Lamb Garren and Roy G. Garren.
Lois graduated from Hendersonville High School in 1959 and was a proud Bearcat. She met the love of her life, John "Johnny" W. Bishop and they married on June 24, 1961. They were married for 49 years, until his death in 2010. Lois was an excellent seamstress, working at Mountain Top and Kellwood. She was later employed at General Electric, where she retired in 1999. She formed many lifelong friendships with her GE coworkers and enjoyed getting together with them for meals and lots of laughter.
Lois was a very active member of Dana United Methodist Church for almost 60 years, until that fellowship dissolved. She then began attending Refuge Baptist Church, where she officially became a member in 2019. She enjoyed trips and activities with her fellow Baptists and would often joke about how privileged they were to have a "Methodist" among them.
Lois adored her grandchildren and great- grandchildren and they loved her. She would often brag of their accomplishments or tell humorous stories of things they had said or done. She was known for the delicious meals she cooked, especially her half runner beans. She could be seen weekly mowing the lawn on her John Deere and working outside to maintain a beautiful home that she and Johnny worked hard to build together.
Lois is survived by her Son, Lester Bishop; Daughter, Monica Bishop Jernigan (Roger); Grandchildren, Trevor Jernigan, Shelby Jernigan Justus (TJ), Cody Brittain Williams, Abel Bishop, and Faith Bishop; Great-Grandchildren, Kyler Justus, Brynn Justus, Reese Jernigan, Raylan Jernigan, Micah Williams, and her beloved Sister, Linda Brown of Melbourne, FL, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at 1:00-2:00 pm on Tuesday, August 20 at Refuge Baptist Church, 27 Oleta Rd, with funeral to follow at 2:00pm, Pastor Jeff Neelands officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Refuge Baptist Church, PO Box 36, Dana, NC 28724.
