Richard Carl Groepler

Richard Carl Groepler, age 93, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025, in Flat Rock (Henderson County), North Carolina. Born on January 9, 1932, in Roosevelt, New York, he lived a life marked by dedication to both his country and family.

Mr. Groepler was a proud veteran of the United States Coast Guard, achieving the rank of Lieutenant. His commitment to service continued as he worked diligently as an engineer for the Department of Defense. He retired in 1988 as a Department Manager, concluding a distinguished career. He graduated from Hempstead High School before going on to earn degrees from the United States Coast Guard Academy and Long Island University. His passion for learning and discipline were evident in all aspects of his life. A devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Hendersonville, Mr. Groepler carried his faith with humility and grace, touching the lives of those around him with his kindness and steadfast spirit.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia Groepler; his parents, Carl Groepler and Ruth Lowry Groepler; his sister, Audrey R. Houck; and his niece, Nancy Stebe. He leaves behind cherished memories with his surviving family: daughters, Denise Cicerili and Cheryl Moreno; nephew, Roy Baillard; niece, Linda Governanti; and sister-in-law, Nancy Keller.

In accordance with his wishes, Mr. Groepler will be laid to rest alongside his wife, Patricia, at Shepherd Memorial Park. Shuler Funeral Home has been entrusted with the honor of serving the Groepler family during this time.

Richard Carl Groepler will be remembered for his unwavering dedication, love for his family, and his commitment to service. He leaves a legacy of integrity and strength that will continue to inspire those who knew him.
